More About The Fine Art Edition Series

I personally print my images using archival inks, papers, and mattes. Each fine art print is a personal expression of my art and craft.   There are nuances and a tactile beauty to my prints that computer screens cannot represent!  I take great pride in my creative process, from how I first capture an image to how I create a fine art print.  It starts with careful image development performed on a wide-gamut calibrated computer display and finalized into a Master Print through a refined print proof process.  Printing is performed on a high-end commercial grade printer utilizing the latest ink technologies (currently K3 UltraChrome HDX pigment inks). Unlike traditional lab prints, these prints reproduce images with a greater dynamic range, and much greater lifespan. Permanence ratings are up to 200 years for color prints, and nearly 400 years for black and white prints. Also, unlike an automated order, I create my prints at the time an order is placed. Each is often re-proofed and may receive unique adjustments to ensure I am creating the best possible print. Each image is printed on the paper I find best suited to obtain maximum visual impact, and I often test new papers to find improvements on my image reproduction. Prints are hand signed in the lower right below the image. Matted prints are mounted on white 4-ply white 100% cotton rag board, Conservation Style and Overlay Matted revealing the artist's signature. Matted prints my have slightly reduced image size to allow for overlay matting.

Ordering

The simplest way to order is to use the Purchase Print button next to the image. You can pay with a major credit card or through Pay Pal, whichever you prefer. If you have specific needs and would like to place a custom order, please email me at jeff@jeffstasneyphotography.com

Once a print is completed, each one is carefully prepared and packaged in specialty-designed protective shipping boxes or tubes.  Items are shipped fully insured via USPS or Fed Ex Ground.  Expedited shipping is also available upon request. Artist's Statement

Photography has been a life long passion for me. My love for both nature and photography developed while growing up in Eugene, Oregon. As a boy, my family and I often went camping in the Pacific Northwest where I loved to wander through the woods and coastal areas, hiking and biking on various trails. When I was 14 I got my first camera, and soon after found myself out in nature looking for interesting photographic subjects. At 17 I purchased a large format 4x5 film camera and began to work diligently in attempting to create black and white photographs that made me feel like I felt when I saw those of the masters like Adams and Weston.  I loved their images for their rich detail and incredible dynamic range. Most of all they held some intangible quality that spoke of vision and masterful technique.

Today, using high-resolution digital cameras, I strive to create that kind of quality and depth in my photography. In the past I focused exclusively on black and white, but since 2012 my work has shifted to more color work.  In both mediums I'd describe my work as rich, detailed and often dramatic in its interpretation. What drives my photography is my love for the natural world, and my continued quest to find something visually compelling to photograph.  It's also, admittedly a never-ending pursuit of that "perfect" photograph that nags me to keep venturing out, in pursuit of something excellent.

"The creative photographer comes across something that excites him emotionally, spiritually, aesthetically, and then gives the view a print that is the equivalent of that." Stieglitz

When photographing landscapes and still life, my two approaches are different, yet similar. When photographing landscapes, I see something that excites me, and moves me, and I want to translate my experience of being there emotionally onto an image. Borrowing from Stieglitz,  'I try to make a photograph equivalent to what I saw and felt.' Producing a literal or objective image is not my intention. In the same light, I strive to be true to the scene at hand by not interjecting false elements into an image that didn't exist. With still life, I focus on the more intricate elements of nature. Here, I often place my subjects into minimal environments to focus attention on their shapes and details. I find the controlled environment of the studio allows me to create the light and compositions that precisely convey my interest in the subject.

Print Offerings

Currently I'm offering two main options for Fine Art Prints: Numbered Edition Prints-Print Only and Numbered Edition Prints-Matted. Numbered Edition prints are printed on the highest grades of cotton archival paper.  These are gallery grade archival prints. At present, I print on a Photo Rag Baryta Paper ( 315 gsm 100% Cotton Semi-Gloss Art Paper) and a Smooth Matte Paper (310 gsm 100% Cotton Art Paper). Each image is printed on the paper I find best suited to obtain maximum visual impact, and I often test new papers to find improvements on my image reproduction. Numbered Edition Prints are hand signed in the lower right below the image, and numbered on the lower left side. Matted prints are mounted on white 4-ply white 100% cotton rag board, Conservation Style and Overlay Matted revealing the artist's signature. All print sizes (image size for small matted prints is reduced slightly to fit standard outer matte size) are actual image size and will contain 1-2" white paper boarder surrounding the image.
